Clinical Supervision

Clinical supervision provides a safe space to discuss clinical questions, case presentations, ethics, power and privilege, safe and effective use of self, and therapeutic approaches.

Catherine has over 25 years in working in the field of Mental Health as a Registered Social Worker. Catherine is highly experienced working with adults, families, teens, and children through a range of challenges, including times of transition, coping skills, questions around identity and/or sexuality, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, relationship issues, problems with school or work, and parenting challenges. I welcome the opportunity to work with members of the 2SLGBTQA+ community.

Catherine believes Mental Health is a journey and we that we all have unique stories, full of opportunity and growth. Catherine believes in a strength-based and client-centred approach to therapy and she strives to provide a safe and non-judgmental space where every client is heard and understood. I believe that individuals are unique and so are their challenges. You are the expert of your own lives, and I am here to walk alongside you when you may need that little bit of extra help on your journey of healing and growth.

I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative, and Solution-Focused approaches. Sonya has been providing therapeutic services for many years to help clients with a wide range of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, grief, loss and trauma.

Sonya uses a strengths-based and empathetic approach in her sessions. She works with individuals, couples and adolescents/children. Her focus is on healing and releasing in order to strengthen the self. Sonya’s area of specialization includes separation/divorce and emotional abuse.

Sonya is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She has a BSc in Psychology from the University of Toronto.

Rui Tian is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (Registration Number 002552) and a Clinical Member of Ontario Society of Psychotherapists (OSP#2119). Mr. Tian is also a formal Executive Board Member (Treasurer 2011-2013) and Board Member (Chair of Professional Development 2013-2015) of Ontario Society of Registered Psychotherapists.

Trained as a Psychotherapist, specialized in Addiction and Mental Health Therapist, Chronic Pain Management, Rehabilitation, and certified as a Solution-Focused Therapist/Coach, Mr. Tian has been practicing in various clinical settings, including hospital, non-profit and outpatient community agencies, walk-in clinic, Family Health Team (FIT), and private clinics providing psychotherapy and life coaching. He has been providing face to face, distance psychotherapy (phone, online), coaching, and counselling through EAP, WSIB, and extended health insurance coverage. His clients are from all walks of life, from different age groups, with various sexual orientations and diverse social/economical/cultural backgrounds.

Mr. Tian has been practicing psychotherapy, clinical supervision, life coaching, consultation, training, and counselling to individuals, couples, families, groups, organizations. His main approaches include Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Motivational Interview (MI), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Trauma-focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Clinical Hypnosis, Emotional-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Family Systems Therapy, integrated with but not limited to elements from psychodynamic, Rogerian, Narrative, Gestalt, and Interpersonal therapy. Also he practices Harm Reduction and Relapse Prevention, person-centered approaches, resiliency building, and health, leadership creativity coaching.

Through years of experience Mr. Tian has developed his expertise in issues related to mental health (e.g. anxiety, depression, trauma), addictions (substances, problem gambling, eating, sex, and internet), and concurrent diagnosis; developmental disability (ASD, MID, LD, ADHD, ODD and etc.) and dual diagnosis; rehabilitation (MVA, WSIB, OWN, LTD, RTW, mTBI, and traumatic injuries), chronic illness (chronic pain and other chronic medical conditions), and return to work; parenting (child and youth), couple and marital relationship, and as well as personal wellbeing/development. In clinical supervision, he had provided on-going weekly supervision to Master level student psychotherapists and clinical social workers to complete their practicums and job placement required by College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario or The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
